A Round-up of the Latest Travel News

Stay informed and up to date about what’s new in the world of travel. Each week I’ll provide you with a quick summary and links to the latest travel news.

Here’s the news this for this week:

1. Bahama Islands Up-Date

If you had travel planned for the Bahama Islands this year, don’t cancel without checking first. Nassau and Paradise Island were relatively unscathed by hurricane Dorian and are open for business as usual. Tourism accounts for half of the GDP of the islands. Your tourist dollars are vital to get this island nation back on its feet.

2. MacBook Pro Airline Ban

Initially only the older versions of MacBook Pro which had been recalled for battery issues were banned from the airlines. Now, some airlines are banning all MacBook Pros from checked luggage and they must remain off during the flight. If you’re traveling with MacBook Pro, even those that have not been recalled, check with your airline for current restrictions.

3. Disney Wish Announced

Altough I’m not a huge fan of the Disney Cruise Line, I know a lot of people are. Those folks will be happy to know that a fifth ship has been announced; the Disney Wish.  Also announced was the development of Lighthouse Point, also in the Bahama Islands; their second tropical destination.

4. Global Entry Cards

Apparently, there has been a backlog in getting Global Entry Cards issued. If your card is due for renewal, you can use the expired card for up to a year, if you applied for a renewal prior to the expiration date.

5. Holiday Airfares Could be High

The Boeing 737 Max problem may factor into increased prices of airline tickets over the holilay period. If you haven’t purchased your holiday travel tickets, you probably shouldn’t wait.

Just a note that there will be no Travel News Round-Up for the next two weeks. I will be on vacation and off -line. Are you getting ready to plan a vacation? Download your free vacation planning guide! You can request it at the end of my blog post: How to Plan a Vacation Five Easy Steps.

There you have it, this week’s round-up. September 30, 2019 will be our next issue!

Anything else you’d like to add? I’d love to hear from you!
