A Round-up of the Latest Travel News
Stay informed and up to date about what’s new in the world of travel. Each week I’ll provide you with a quick summary and links to the latest travel news.
Here’s the news this for this week:
1. New Zealand to Require eTA
Beginning on 1 October 2019, travelers from visa waiver countries (which includes the US) into New Zealand will now be required to obtain an electronic Travel Authority (eTA) before entering the country. If traveling from the US on an eTA, you will also be required to pay the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy, the total will set you back $44 NZD, or a little over $24 USD by today’s exchange rate. Get all the details on the official New Zealand website.
2. Unrest in Hong Kong
If you have travel plans to Hong Kong in the near future, keep an eye out for the latest in developments. Currently protests have caused problems with air travel into Hong Kong Airport. Here’s updated information as of today.
3. No More Sitting on the Spanish Steps
In Rome, it’s always been a thing for tourists to take a break and sit for a spell on the Spanish Steps. No more! In an effort to preserve the historic steps, the city passed an ordinance and which it is currently enforcing prohibiting sitting on the steps. Going to Rome in the near future? Better check this out!
4. Google Flights
Looking to book some flights this fall? You might want to try Google Flights. They are offering some guarantees on the prices US flights. Could make a difference in your bottom line. Read more about Google Flights here.
5. Another Cost Saving Website
I am currently in the process of planning a trip to Europe for my family and have found some nice deals by using Rakuten (formerly e-Bates). I have received a little cash back on the price of tour tickets. You can get coupons or cash back on airfare, hotel, rental cars, and more. It’s not a lot, but it does add up. Try it out yourself.
There you have it, this week’s round-up. Have you downloaded your free vacation planning guide? You can request it at the end of my blog post: How to Plan a Vacation Five Easy Steps.
